Output Log Closes immediately upon starting minecraft

So, if you enable "Open output log" within the launcher and then start Minecraft, the output log opens for a brief moment and then closes. Im not too sure why it does this.

Could you answer few questions regarding this issue, it will help with the investigation: 

  • Does this issue occur to you only on two screens setup or on single screen too?

  • Does it occur if you switch it to BETA version of the Launcher?

  • Does it the output log dissapear when you have "keep launcher open" option selected?

  • Does this issue occur on Windows 10/11 version of the Launcher or Windows 7/8 version?

  • Are you logged in in both Xbox app, MS store, and Launcher with the same MS account? 

  • Have you tried signing out of all your Windows Apps, and the signing in again?

  • Is your Windows and associated apps (Xbox app, MS store) up-to-date (check for updates regardless)? 

  • Do you have enough free space on your disc drive?

  • Have you tried installing the Launcher on a different drive?

  • Are your graphic card drivers up-to-date? Please check for updates regardless.

  • Please also uninstall the Launcher, delete .minecraft folder (copy its content elsewhere before deletion) and then reinstall, restart your computer. Then please try to boot the Launcher.

  • Do you use VPN or any of the incompatible software on machine you try to log-in?  

  • Could you provide us with launcher_log file from your .minecraft folder?more in-depth repro steps?

While Evtema3's comment did provide a lot of info, i'm going to add on to it.

While updating to 2.3.585 felt like that fixed the issue, it started reoccurring again after a couple of times while starting Minecraft. 

I'll provide my launcher_log file as well to help out a little more with this.

Please uninstall the Launcher, delete .minecraft folder (copy its content elsewhere before deletion) and then reinstall, restart your computer. Then please try to boot the Launcher.
Please also delete any mods that are within your Launcher, I can see you are both using them, and report if the issue still occurs.
We only deal with vanilla Launcher, and if mods will not be deleted, this issue will be closed as invalid.

I was able to uninstall the launcher, deleted and backed up the .minecraft folder and also restarted my PC, then after reinstalling the launcher, turned on Beta preview and output log. And at first, the log preview worked as normal for the first 30 minutes and then it started doing the bug again. And this is without using a modded client of any sort. Also to note, i found that the bug seems to be much more apparent if disable hardware acceleration is enabled. I had copied and pasted my log file somewhere and then I uploaded

Same error, uninstalled and tried with a fresh install. First off, it seems to only happen on the Windows 7/8 version of the launcher, it doesn't seem to have anything to do with modded/unmodded since it happens regardless and in my case it also seems that not even the "Keep the launcher open while games are running" option works, both that and the output log close regardless of what settings I have (so it doesn't matter if I have hardware acceleration on/off or if I'm using the beta version of the launcher). Hopefully this helps.

  • Replicated with a four screen setup.

  • Issue occured on the beta launcher.

  • The output log does not disappear with that specific option! Granted, this shouldn't be marked as intentional behavior.

  • I am using Windows 10 Pro 64 bit.

  • I don't use the Xbox app nor the MS store, but I am logged into minecraft using a microsoft account, as per the forceful account migration set forth by microsoft.

  • This is the only windows app that I use. And yes, I have tried relogging. I've also tried reinstalling the launcher.

  • Windows is up to date, to a point. I don't let Windows update until I know the next branch is stable. I refuse to 'upgrade' to Windows 11.

  • I have plenty of space left. Hundreds of gigs.

  • Yes. Tested on my primary, secondary, and tertiary drives. Same bug.

  • My 3090ti is update to date.

  • A full reinstall has already been tested, short of reinstalling windows, which I am not keen to do. I have run CHKDSK, with no errors found.

  • I do not use a VPN, or incompatible software. This bug was not present a few days ago.

I couldn't reproduce this reliably and can't reproduce at all anymore, but this was happening to me as well – so I set this bug report to confirmed.
