I reinstalled my Minecraft Launcher today and noticed that I can no longer open the Minecraft Launcher while playing the Java Edition.
Clicking on the Minecraft Launcher while in the Java Editon just jumps you back into the game instead of launching the Launcher.
This is only with the Java version. When I play with Bedrock, I can open the launcher as usual.
The only way to fix this is to stop the Minecraft Launcher task in Task Manager. Maybe this is the problem as the launcher is not supposed to be in the background processes? Bedrock does not put the launcher in the background processes.

Yup, I know the setting. Thank you. I hope this will be fixed anyway. I find it not so optimal to have the luncher open all the time.
Hi!
Thanks for reporting!
However this issue is working as intended.
Launcher has to stay open this way to work well with Java.
If you wish to be able to open the Launcher while Java game is playing, You can download and install Windows 7/8 version of the Launcher from minecraft.net

Confirmed. You must check the "Keep the Launcher open while games are running" option to be able to use the launcher while playing Java Edition.
