Hi, I cannot reproduce this behavior with either 1.19.4 or 1.20 Pre-release 2 on Windows 10/11 App Launcher.
Please attach the full launcher log found in [minecraft/launcher_log.txt|https://minecrafthopper.net/help/finding-minecraft-data-folder/]
.
Please also uninstall the Launcher, delete .minecraft folder (copy its content elsewhere before deletion) and then reinstall, restart your computer. Then please try to boot the Launcher.

I've just gone and tried it myself and no, it doesn't happen on 1,19.4 but if you cannot launch multiple instances of 1,8,9. I'm not sure how many versions this bug affects. Also which launcher_log.txt do you want me to link? I have a few of them
[media]Hi again, please reproduce the issue one more time, close the launcher and attach the latest launcher_log file.
This behavior happens on pretty much all versions, starting from 1.18 and below
I have tried versions from 1.18 all the way down to 1.7.10. Happens every time.
The only version this doesnt happen on is 1.19 and above
I confirm having this problem on all versions except 1.19.4. I usually play on 1.12.2 so it's really annoying!
The only quick-fix I found to be working was to change the GB in the JVM arguments to one higher, but it's quite annoying to do so.
I confirm this issue, started to happen after recent launcher update.
After more testing, it seems like this issue does not occur when instances are launched from installations with different settings.
Workaround for now: Duplicate the installation the user wants to launch multiple of, then launch one from each installation.
Also, it seems like changing the installation settings after launching one instance, then launching another works too (as said on previous comment).
Differences installation settings that prevents this error:
change in the 'version' setting. Even same MC versions work as long as it's a different version option(Mods).
Change in the installation name. However, changing the icon does not work.
ANY change to the VM argument setting; Even adding spaces works.
It can be noted that reverting/setting to the setting the first instance was launched with, then trying to launch causes this error to appear again.
Can confirm everything that's been said before. First instance launches without errors, second one gives the 'Unable to extract' error. Making any chance to the installation between launches avoids the error.
this issue has been around for about a month even after multiple launcher updates. Has the developer team noticed this issue yet?
my last ticket was closed because I mentioned mods so I've recreated it, multiple of my friends have had the same issue today after I asked them to test it because I was able to have 4 instances of minecraft on the same version yesterday
