Whenever I launch Minecraft from the launcher, you hit play, and then it says "waiting on install" when it is already installed. then instead of a "loading" button it stays on that button.

Hi!
As mentioned below, please delete .minecraft (but save your worlds and skins etc beforehand) and then boot the Launcher.
Also, does this happen on every version of Java?
