[MCL-23976] When I start playing it asks me to enter a new username.

I got into Minecraft after a lot of time and when I started playing the Java version I realized that I had to put my username back, when I put the one I had before I realized that it already existed.

Can confirm, issue happening as well for me...

Potential fix seems to be to remove your account from the launcher (as in sign out of launcher) and then sign back in...

the solution i found is uninstalling all mc files and renstaling then if not working lanch mc through forge sign in and run mc after close forge and lanch mc through normal lancher and it works hope i helped and fell free to ask for more detals

Yeah, I've encountered this issue aswell, but I have a fix, just relaunch the launcher.

I am having this issue right now and logging out and back in did not fix the issue. I uninstalled it and then reinstalled the launcher. I have even deleted all Minecraft files off my PC and that didn’t work either.
