when i go to download any version of minecraft it stops at 5.65KB and then gets stuck on finalizing, while everything else responds the download is frozen and when i close the launcher its still open and requires me to force close it.
i have also downloaded and installed Java JRE 8 version 421 to no avail.
if you need to know, the version of macos im running is 10.13.6 high sierra

i had a bug like this too with custom versions of minecraft like sigma here (yes ik its cheats) just try to close and open the launcher and launch it without internet it wont try to download and also remove -noverify if u have it in the launch commands

Please also uninstall the Launcher, delete .minecraft folder (copy its content elsewhere before deletion) and then reinstall, restart your computer. Then please try to boot the Launcher.
