Default installation is latest version, not most recently played on MacOS

From my experience playing on Windows (and what the internet tells me) the launcher is supposed to default to the last installation version you launched when you next start it up. However, on Mac, every time I start the launcher it's re-selected "Latest release" instead of the version I always select to play on a particular server.
