Launcher wants me to buy java edition when I already own it

I bought java and bedrock together on the microsoft store one or two years ago and ever since I bought it, the minecraft launcher has stated that I don't own java edition. This isn't the case because it is on my desktop, but it requires the minecraft launcher to open it and now the launcher wants me to buy it again. Up until now I've just been happy playing on bedrock edition but there are features on java that I want to try out. When I directly try to open java edition without the launcher, it takes me to a download link for the launcher. But the launcher still won't let me play on java edition. I have already paid for java and I don't want to pay double the price simply because the launcher refuses understand that I already own java.

I have the same issue. These people on this bug board nor Microsoft employees could help. For a game that has been in the gaming industry for so long, you would expect their system to be better than this when it comes to tracking who owns what.
