Issue: The Minecraft application fails to fully open on a MacBook Air using macOS Sequoia 15.6.1.
Steps taken to reproduce the issue: Repeated attempts to open the Minecraft application. This continues to occur after all possible troubleshooting attempts, including switching network connections and uninstalling and reinstalling the Minecraft application via minecraft.net. On a macOS device, Minecraft Java Edition cannot be installed via the Microsoft Store or Xbox application.
Expected result: The application is opened -> the launcher loads smoothly → the launcher opens and functions as intended.
Actual result:
When opened initially after installation: The application is opened → Minecraft begins to install with the process running smoothly → the installation process slows when it reaches “downloading update files” → the installation process is cut short when the application begins updating → The loading bar turns grey and a pop-up appears titled “Minecraft Launcher” reading “Unable to update the launcher” with a button that reads “OK” → Upon clicking “OK” the application closes and quits with no further activity.
When opened anyother time: The application is opened → the loading bar titled “Updating Minecraft Launcher” appears with a blue bar → the loading bar reads “Inspecting current version and preparing for upc” → the loading bar reads “Updating” → The loading bar turns grey and a pop-up appears titled “Minecraft Launcher” reading “Unable to update the launcher” with a button that reads “OK” → Upon clicking “OK” the application closes and quits with no further activity.
