Opening the launcher with the game open opens a Chromium window (seriously)

On a specific laptop with Ubuntu Desktop 24.04.3 LTS installed, attempting to open the Minecraft Launcher while Minecraft: Java Edition is open causes a chromium window to open.

This only occurs on my Dell Inspiron 7570 with NVIDIA GeForce MX130 graphics.

Additionally, the launcher window does not automatically close when the game is started (not sure if thatโ€™s related, but it only happens on this specific machine).

This occurs both on the portable executable version extracted from the .tar.gz from the official website (https://launcher.mojang.com/download/Minecraft.tar.gz) and the .deb file (https://launcher.mojang.com/download/Minecraft.deb) installed via apt.

The strangest part is, this issue does not occur on two other laptops (what Iโ€™m typing this report on), which also have Ubuntu Desktop 24.04.3 LTS installed (they donโ€™t have NVIDIA graphics though, but I canโ€™t see why that would make a difference).

This issue also does not occur on my old Dell XPS 17 Laptop with Ubuntu 22.04 installed.

But why does it happen on this specific machine?

Environment

Ubuntu Desktop 24.04.3 LTS on a Dell Inspiron 7570 with NVIDIA GeForce MX130 graphics.

Bccurs both on the portable executable version extracted from the .tar.gz from the official website (https://launcher.mojang.com/download/Minecraft.tar.gz) and the .deb file (https://launcher.mojang.com/download/Minecraft.deb), installed via apt.
