The Minecraft launcher says, "Unable to check your game library. Please check your internet connection." I'm definitely connected to the internet. My Xbox account profile wouldn't load, so I checked to see if there was a problem with my Xbox account. Everything was fine.

I’m having the same issue on my end. I got the connection issue to go away but this is what happens when I try to download the latest release. Something is wrong on their end.
