Hello there! I see what you’re having here. You are doing great by removing the webcache2, however it will of course be temporary, as the cache HAS to regenerate itself. If everytime it regenerates you have to re-delete it or else the launcher stops working, its very clearly a problem with the cache creation. What you can do here (and what i would say is the easiest option) is to simply reinstall the launcher, as i believe that will generate new cache as it’s considered a “New” application.
How do you do that?
To reinstall the launcher, first press Win + R:
Once you did that, type in the text box: appwiz.cpl
Press enter
Now you should see a new window pop up. Wait for it to load all the applications on your machine.
As you can see, there’s a list of ALL the applications registered on your machine. This can be useful also outside of minecraft, as if you have any remainder of an application you tried uninstalling, it will appear here (as it still has its own registry class).
Go to the search box on the top right, and search for “minecraft” since the launcher has minecraft in its name.
Now, you will be met with two options:
If you see the launcher application appear:
Since you see the launcher application appear, you can simply just right click on the icon, press uninstall and reinstall it via Microsoft store or the official minecraft.net website.
If you dont see anything pop up:
We have to dig deeper! Worry not, we can find a solution.
Right-click on the windows icon on your taskbar.
Look for: Installed apps (or something like that, my laptop is not set on english so i cannot be sure 100%). If you have troube finding it, it should be the first option from the top.
Once you found it, click it.
Wait for the list of applications load.
Once it’s all loaded and ready, look for the minecraft launcher from there. It cannot fail as this list is hardcoded into the computer’s settings.
Found it? yess! OK, now press on the three dots next to the file size (numMB/GB) and proceed to press uninstall, if it makes an UAC prompt show up (administrator request), just say yes.
Now wait for the whole process of uninstallation to end. Once it’s over proceed to next steps
Amazing!
Now for the “a bit harder” part (speaking from experience, i’ve had a lot of issues for this).
Now, depending on your will, you can do as i say or not, but i’d consider following my steps, as the minecraft.net website is having problems with the download, at least for me here in italy.
Let’s get more technical.
Open the Microsoft Store (search on your pc “Microsoft Store”.
If you’ve never used it, log in with your microsoft credentials NOT MINECRAFT ACCOUNT ONES
Search on the top search bar “Minecraft Launcher”, and press the plain launcher icon that pops up.
There, now you should see the minecraft launcher page on the microsoft store. You could theorethically just press install (or whatever it says) and proceed as normal and wait for it to install, but if you’ve gone alot of time without using it, but you did indeed use the Microsoft Store a long time prior to this issue, go ahead along the guide.
Now, if you press install, click where to allocate the space and go ahead, it should pop up in your downloads section (still in the microsoft store on the bottom of the left bar).
if a window pops up as loading after pressing install, and on the bottom of it is another install button which doesnt work, go on the settings of the app, and repair the data, or, else, you could get to the run prompt (win + r) and type in the text box: wsreset.exe
this will reset your app cache, not deleting any data.
else, retry by terminating your Microsoft store via app settings, restart the pc or log out and back in via your desired account. this should fix any error, but in case, refer to reddit or the official Microsoft / xbox website and consult any forums or posts you could find. dont be scared to update drivers, just do all it says, except redownloading, as there's the risk of either corrupting data or have cases like this happen, where i couldn't boot my minecraft launcher so i tried any method that seemed to work for Others, but didnt for me -- here's a pretty useful video with common fixes for the minecraft launcher, not legacy, normal:
https://youtu.be/dYiOOYY2blo?si=GwJxBBsDcfwwo-E_
precisely, at the second 29 of the video, where it displays appdata, if roaming folder for some reason doesn't appear, display or work when opened, do %appdata% as it will open the roaming folder directly. if nothing works here, consult a specialist, or youtube tutorials, as some are correlated to your Issues and could work fine. if still no chance or despair, try doing the same steps with the Microsoft store website, not software app, or the xbox app, but i wouldn't consider the xbox app useful as it will save your download as cloud service, not on your local machine. so, in case nothing here works, either contact support, try downloading the minecraf launcher from the website aswell, not the Microsoft store, but the official minecraft site (http://minecraft.net ), or try to repair the data of the xbox app or gaming services, which you prefer, or both. also, i recommend to easily do any updates with the apps you precedently downloaded using the Microsoft store, and maybe only then retrying to download your desired product. I'm sure that with all i wrote on here, you will never have any problem again with the crappy Microsoft store, or any other service offered to you by Microsoft, but all these things i wrote here were in particular for the minecraft launcher, as it only ever happened to me for that, and it was a pain in the ass to get it back to work. now, seriously, if it happens, try and looking on the internet before relying on this txt file, but it seems like it was pretty useful, as i kind of listed all the steps i did to make it work back to normal, because i spent hours doing uncountable attempts using methods that didn't seem to get me further into the solution. but in this text there are all the things that "seemingly" helped me, and im specifiyng seemingly because im not even sure these helped, but as long as they apparently worked to me once, why wouldn't they work twice, you know! on a serious note, don't refer to this note pad text in the first place, because it contains very hard methods and advanced level ones, because it's harder to follow along, so maybe get cozy and look up some tutorials, but if none of them work… why not try and looking thru this for your perfect solution! thanks for reading :)
-tip 1: try running the application / software as admin, maybe that will help you and maybe make you avoid doing all these steps, but in case… try it.
You MIGHT’VE noticed that it cannot proceed for an error. Most commonly its error 0x87e00196.
It’s indeed a problem with the Service Packet of the game.
Open windows powershell and…
…Type this command:
Get-AppxPackage gamingservices -allusers | remove-appxpackage -allusers
Now wait for the process to continue.
If it asks for Y/N always press Y (stands for yes, continue).
Once it’s done, Try restarting the Microsoft Store and re-pressing install for the Minecraft Launcher.
Great! Now, it should be working and should get reinstalled. It’s just a matter of time after this.
After installation, go and open it and signing up with your microsoft account. It should now work and not display any cache errors. Hopefully, i helped you! 😄
Side note:
In case the error isnt the one i explained, please go to:
https://support.xbox.com/it-IT/help/errors/error-code-search-guide
then do ctrl + f (or do it manually, by searching thru the list and looking for your error code), and type your error code there, and be met with one or more dropdowns that could help you fix your Microsoft store Issues.
to see your error code:
you should see, when downloading your desired product, once the error occurs, and it asks you to retry executing the download, under that button, you should see a red text with a warning sign. hover on it or click on the symbol / text to see your error code.
Thanks for reading!

Funny, i have been having this issue on Linux, i found that there, deleting webcahe2 temporarily fixes it.
