Saved skins disappear from Skins tab after adding a new skin; cape stops displaying when equipping the new skin (until launcher/PC restart)

Description

1. Open the official Minecraft Launcher (latest version) and sign in with a Microsoft account that has multiple previously saved custom skins and at least one owned cape (e.g., Mojang cape).

2. Navigate to the Skins tab and confirm your previously saved skins and cape are visible in the preview.

3. Click Browse or New Skin to upload/add a new custom skin (.png file).

4. Save/apply the new skin.

5. Observe the Skins tab: all previously saved skins have disappeared from the list including the one you just saved.

6. Equip/select the new skin and check the preview (or launch a world/server to test in-game).

7. Observe: the cape exist in game while it does not display in the skin preview.

Expected result

• All previously saved skins remain visible in the Skins tab after adding a new skin.

• The cape continues to display correctly in the skin preview and in-game after equipping any skin.

Actual result

• Immediately after saving the new skin, all old saved skins vanish from the Skins tab list (list appears empty except for the standard ones).

• After equipping the new skin, the cape disappears from the preview but not in-game (though still owned it reappears after workaround).

• Issue persists until: restarting the Launcher, reinstalling/redownloading the Launcher, or restarting the PC.

• Tested as of latest [February 2026-02-01]

• Unfortunately I do not have a screenshot off the bug because of accidental SS deletion. But will add if new proof comes up so please come to understand my improvised painted one until then.

(Intermittent: Does not happen 100% of the time. Repeat the following steps multiple times across different sessions to trigger.)
