macOS: Minecraft Launcher fails to update or launch

Minecraft Launcher fails to update or launch on macOS 26.5.2 (25F84).

The problem with Minecraft Launcher on macOS is that the launcher hasn’t been updated to be a native Mac app. Instead, it was compiled for Intel, which is no longer supported on macOS. This problem becomes more apparent for people who will update to macOS 27 whenever Apple releases later this year when Apple drops Rosetta which allows Intel apps to run on Apple Silicon.

The solution is to update and release either an “Apple Silicon” or “Universal” build of the Minecraft Launcher to run on macOS 27 and later. Please coordinate with Apple Developer Relations if you need assistance with updating the build.

For additional details on how to update the Minecraft Launcher to support macOS 27 and later, follow this article: https://developer.apple.com/documentation/apple-silicon/building-a-universal-macos-binary .
