Play button gray and unable to switch user

Unable to push PLAY because it is grayed out. Tried creating new profile. Unable to get the log in screen to open when pushing "switch user" button. Nothing happens. Completely unable to play.

Had same problem until I used my email address instead of user id to switch user.

I can't even get to a screen to put in a user id or an email address. Play button is grayed out and switch user takes me nowhere. tried adding a new profile and that didn't work either

Completely wiping your .minecraft (just back up any files you want transferred like saves or stats) and reinstalling the launcher fixed this problem for me

Please attach the complete output of the "Development console" which can be found on the second tab of the launcher.

I'm having the same issue uninstalling and re-installing did not work and i have attatched the output of the developement console

How is this resolved?

I'm having the same issue with Minecraft Launcher 1.5 on two separate systems both running the same OS (and accounts).

After running the Launcher the location that usually says "Play" now says "Loading" and a small message to the right says "Welcome, guest! Please log in. Ready to play Minecraft 1.7.10" with a switch user button below. The button is clickable, but does nothing when clicked. Creating a new profile does not help. I'm unable to load and play the game. The only thing I have found fixes this [temporarily] is by deleting the ".Minecraft" folder located in "C:\Users\myusername\AppData\Roaming\.minecraft".

I have recreated this issue several times with the same results.
I login to my account and play Minecraft. Then I exit the game. Relaunch the loader and logout of my account and close the launcher. When re-opening the launcher I encounter the described issue above.

Running the Launcher as Administrator has no effect either.

This is an output of my "Launcher Log".

This is a stock install with no mods or add-ons in use or installed.

I am having exactly the same issue. It says the issue is 'resolved' but how exactly – I don't see anything here to explain how it was resolved...

The resolution was "Awaiting Response", now it's "Duplicate"
