If you login into the new minecraft launcher with an account, and the login in is successful, it will save your password.
However, if you change your password then there is no way to get the launcher to save this.

Likely because the new launcher never saves any passwords; it uses the lastlogin file from the old launcher. If you remove the file it will never keep your password.
We do not plan to store passwords, if you want to have your 'new' password log i once with the old launcher, that will create the file the new launcher reads from for this moment.
We plan to migrate to a better scheme soon and thus not wasting time on 'fixing' something that is to be replaced 🙂
Does this mean that only one profile can login (using the saved password) even when all profiles use the same account (on launcher 1.0.4)?
If my question is not clear, let me rephrase. Is the intended behavior for the new launcher to only allow:
1) the first user/player that logged in to play online
or
2) the first (or last) profile created to play online?
@Marios: Your issue is MCL-602.
Confirmed. Changed password, now everytime I restart the launcher it will try to login with the old password with me ending up typing it manually everytime.
