Minecraft launcher stays blank

What I expected to happen was...:

My minecraft launcher would open like normal and i could play.

What actually happened was...:

When i clicked on it a new kind of launcher appeared, but the launcher stayed blank, I tried running it several times but it doesn't work. I also tried uninstalling an re downloading the launcher, and yes my wifi is working. And i updated my java but nothing works.
