After installing the new 1.6 pre-release executable file, I am unable to connect to minecraft.net to receive files that would make it able for me to continue playing minecraft in the pre-release. I have tried resetting my router, a dns flush, and checked the minecraft.net servers (which are all online). Minecraft was connecting and running perfectly fine before I downloaded the "new" launcher today. The main problem is that I cannot connect to minecraft.net to either verify my account or receive files.
Thanks

Yes the old launcher used to connect to minecraft.net just fine. This is the first time I'm using this new implemented launcher.
Here are some of the lines it outputs.
unable to download remote file
cannot contact authentication server
Here is the text word for word (this may be a little long)
Downloading: https://s3.amazonaws.com/Minecraft.Download/launcher/launcher.pack.lzma (try 10/10)
Exception: java.net.UnknownHostException: s3.amazonaws.com
Unable to download remote file. Check your internet connection/proxy settings.
FATAL ERROR: net.minecraft.bootstrap.FatalBootstrapError: Unable to download while being forced
at net.minecraft.bootstrap.Bootstrap.execute(Bootstrap.java:83)
at net.minecraft.bootstrap.Bootstrap.main(Bootstrap.java:367)
Please fix the error and restart.
Does the old launcher perform this task?
Does status.mojang.com return OK?
Have you checked to see wether the old launcher has a firewall entry, while the new one is being blocked?
