Launcher requires elevated privileges on macOS

When launching normally, it loads forever, but in order for it to be able to run, I have to perform the following in terminal cd /Applications/Minecraft.app/Contents/MacOS;sudo ./launcher The main issue is the use of the sudo command, which means the launcher needs elevated privileges. Also, the fact that I need to use terminal to play minecraft is an issue.

You launched it as sudo before?

The first time I tried, I just double clicked, then it loaded for over 10 mins before I gave up, then I used terminal, it still loaded forever. Finally I used sudo, and it asked to send commands, then it stared loading after I gave the ok.

Is this still a concern in the current Minecraft Launcher version 1.6.84-j? If so, please update the affected versions in order to best aid Mojang ensuring bugs are still valid in the latest releases/pre-releases. If this has been done, we can reopen the issue.

Keep in mind that the "Resolved"-Status on this ticket just means "Answered", and that we are waiting for further information on whether this issue still exists or not. It will be reopened it as soon as the requested information has been delivered.

Still have the issue. Just reinstalled the launcher from minecraft.net.

Is this still an issue present in the latest version of the launcher? If so, please let us know, and the ticket will be reopened.
