Please attach the crash report ([minecraft|http://hopper.minecraft.net/help/guides/finding-minecraft-data-folder/]/crash-reports/crash-<DATE>-client.txt), otherwise we can not diagnose this issue.
For technical support please use the Mojang Support Center.

You don't need a Minecraft crash report to diagnose and fix a JIRA template configuration error. 🙂

Works fine for me, available versions are still numbered incorrectly tho (2.9.xxxx instead of 2.0.xxxx)

Available versions 2.x and 2.9.x don't sound like the Java versions of the launcher which have a different numbering sequence
To reproduce, try entering a valid Java launcher version other than 1.6.76

Oh, you're still using the old launcher. Alright. I'll notify a Mojang employee.

Please note that bugs for the old Java launcher will very unlikely be fixed though as the new native launcher is recommended.

Thanks for the info. I downloaded the game and launcher from Mojang only about 4 weeks ago so I'm surprised it's already a major version out of date. I'll try and see where I can download 2.X series launchers for Java edition on Linux. Thanks again.

Looks like the new (non Java) launcher for Linux is very much in beta still?

Oh yeah, the Linux launcher. The developer who had the task to port the launcher to Linux is involved in other stuff at the moment. It's a shame that the new launcher is still not ready for Linux yet, after almost a whole year.

Apparently Linux users should upgrade to the latest Launcher version (eg 2.1.3676) which is available from the Mojang site).
