Unable to update the Minecraft Native Launcher

I downloaded the minecraftlauncher.msi, it does the first part fine but then when I click the Minecraftlauncher.exe it comes up with a box saying "Downloading native launcher" then 1second after that one another box pops up with "Unable to update the Minecraft Native Launcher. I have had this problem since 11/05/2017 I gave up trying for a while and then forgot about it until two days ago when I tried installing it (this is after a full reinstall of windows 10) and I still get the same message.

I also tried using the twich launcher but that just comes up with "not responding"
