Also happening here. Have logged out, killed all Java processes, and logged back in without it resetting. Have tried rebooting computer, rebooting router, etc. Currently occurring on at least three different computers in this house - NONE of us has a valid session.
Yes, they're all validly purchased Minecraft accounts - it's kind of our family activity.
It's particularly a problem for LAN multiplayer, because it was working fine a few days ago, but now isn't, and as a consequence our original UUID still has our associated inventories, but we're not registering as that user to the local server now and consequently every lost everything they're carrying. (We're also on default skins.) I imagine that once we resolve this issue we'll be back to our original inventories and will lose what we've got again so we're all having to unload our entire inventory into a chest before logging off every time.
From the launcher log:
[0527/203006:INFO:GameCallbacks.cpp(178)] game/com.mojang.realmsclient.client.RealmsClient (Realms Notification Availability checker #1) info Could not authorize you against Realms server: Invalid session id
This impacts more than just Realms, however. I have no interest in Realms.
The bug is related to public ip of your home network. If you have possibility, change your public IP adress (in some cases simple router restart works). See MC-130115 for more informations 🙂

Press Windows+R, type %appdata%, Right Click .minecraft folder, click properties, uncheck "hidden" option. I was facing that trouble and I went to %appdata%, I noticed that .minecraft folder was translucent. After this process, the folder was normal and the launcher returned to work as it should do. Hope it helps.
That should not be the case, nor can it be a cause as the launcher does not check for whether a folder is marked hidden or not. Hidden folders are exclusive to windows explorer and any other explorers that actually read the thumbs file inside, this file tells explorer whether or not it has custom properties.
