Windows 7: Firewall blocks javaw.exe automatically and does not show pop-up on update of the bundled JRE

We just tried a multiplayer game with the latest snapshot and it is not working. We cannot connect to the server. I tried hosting on my windows 10 pro laptop and joining from a windows 7 laptop but it could not see any games available on multiplayer. If I try hosting on the windows 7 machine and joining from my windows 10 laptop then I can see the game but it gives a timeout error when trying to join.

We have been using this setup for the resent snapshots and have had no problems with multiplayer. The last game was with 1.13-pre3.

Windows firewall briefly popped up a dialogue about java accessing local networks which I allowed. I have tried manually resetting permissions but it has not worked. I will now try with firewalls disabled.

Disabling windows firewall made no difference.

How do I attach a crash report when the game has not crashed?

Cannot reproduce. Please be more specific about the issue.

Since 1.13-pre5 there is a new JRE bundled with the Launcher.
So the issue is more : "Why did Windows 7 not produce a firewall popup" instead of "Multiplayer broken", isn't it?

Keep in mind that the "popup" is in fact a "popunder" when having Minecraft fullscreened.

There you go, I changed the title to "Why did Windows 7 not produce a firewall popup" Does that make things better?

If I had known before I filed the bug report that it was an issue over MC interacting with windows firewall then I would have indicated it in the title at the time . . . in fact I probably wouldn't have filed it as a bug report at all, wouldn't I.

"Keep in mind that the "popup" is in fact a "popunder" when having Minecraft fullscreened."

On windows 10 it was a pop up - it kicked MC off fulscreen mode - on windows 7 there was no pop up or pop under at all, the entire thing was handled in the background with no dialog boxes appearing - hence the mystery and confusion over the cause of the issue.

Hopefully others haven't hit this issue but if they have then this report may come up when they search for a solution and they won't think its a bug and file more reports.

Moved to Launcher project, because not a Minecraft issue.

Hi there!

Is this issue still valid for you on the newest version of the Launcher?

This ticket will automatically reopen when you reply.
