My son has been joining my world for several days without a problem. I am on an iPhone and he is on an iPad, both running latest available Minecraft PE version. We are always on the same wifi network, and I have been logged into my Xbox/Microsoft account but he has not been (we found it to work more easily this way but that's a whole separate story). Suddenly, he can no longer join this particular world. Any other world on my phone, he can join without a problem, but just not this one. The last time the world was closed he was just standing on a standard dirt area in front of our house and now when he tries to join he gets the "locating server" message that will sit there forever; meanwhile, in the world I can actually see his avatar with name tag above it standing there AFK. I have tried blowing up his avatar with TNT (can't hit it with arrows or sword), but nothing affects it. His avatar is wearing a full set of meticulously enchanted netherrite armor so we would really like to save him!! We have reset the app, restarted the iPad and iPhone, hard reset the iPad — everything short Of deleting and reinstalling Minecraft as we fear this will cause him to lose his items. Oh, and others are still able to join this world perfectly fine (connecting in the same manner with iPhones and iPads).
thanks!

Yes, it is 115.1 MB.

this is likely a duplicate of MCPE-36190.
Someone there has produced the following potential workaround:
Here’s a step-by-step workaround that we stumbled upon after copying our survival world and trying different things:
All players need to move away from the glitched player* and unload that chunk (12-24 chunks at least. One chunk is 16 blocks). Make sure the glitched player is currently “locating server”.
All players except the host must leave the server. If the glitched player* has a non-Xbox or alternate Xbox account in the world, then you might need to move them away from those chunks as well. (Maybe has something to do with device memory)
Host will need to restart or close the server and rejoin with no additional players other than the glitched player* (with Xbox account).
If the glitched player* passes the “locating server” window and successfully joins, then all other players may join and go back to the chunk where the glitched player* spawned.

This fix worked!!! Thank you so much for posting it here!!

@Skaijie This worked for us!!!
It's definitely still a bug on v1.16.220 with 157MB world. My son and I have been playing in one of our worlds for over two years now. We believe the issue happened as we both exited the game at the same time. I eventually found his avatar in the game stuck in a minecart. Couldn't do anything to him. Tried removing mine cart, replacing track and stone with dirt. Nothing. We didn't want to lose our ability to gain achievements either. So I took a nice long ride away on a minecart. Exited and saved. Went back in, so did he and all was good!

Oh my lanta, this is a fix!
My bf and I play on a ps4. Our world crashed often and we never know why. When it did last night, I was attempting to go thru our nether portal when he was loading the settings page. When we both tried to get back on, he could and I could not. We tried reloading our save file from the cloud, waiting (yeah, I waited an hour!), and almost turning on cheats for teleportation (thank the Lord we didn't). I looked up fixes and stumbled on an idea to kill my player but I have 9 beehives, the best boots, and a pickaxes with Curse of Vanishing, so that was out of the question. I came upon this idea and followed the steps. IT WORKED! I disagree with this being called a potential workaround. This IS a fix! Thank you so much!

it worked, and the problem was solved in the first item
Thanks.
is the world size over 100MB?
