I havent played since the Nether Update, so maybe this was introduced then, I dont know. But crafting was changed in bedrock, to where instead of just showing you the items needed in the crafting menu, it actually takes items from your inventory and puts them on the crafting table. To clarify, it takes the entire stack (or multiple stacks) and removes them from your inventory and puts them on the crafting table. If you are standing where there are items on the ground, those now get pulled into your inventory, which also shifts around what you have available to craft, which changes the recipe that your cursor is on, which shifts stuff around in your inventory, usually throwing stacks of items out of your inventory automatically. This is SO much of a headache that I just dont craft anymore, I make my husband do it for me. What is the purpose of this change, and can I turn it off? I keep crafting things on accident because of it, which is wasting my materials :/
