I was playing Minecraft going the end cities I tried to go through the portal to the end islands but I got stuck in the BEDROCK so there was no possible way to get out then I died and lost my full set of nethrite plus a nethrite pickaxe and sword with an elytra I feel like this should change to where you just go to the crawling animation instead of killing and I couldn't stop it cause again it was BEDROCK

Did you access the gateway by throwing an ender pearl into it? If so, are you sure you hit the gateway part and not the bedrock?
