Binding to Button5 doesn't disable navigation controls.

Setting a keybind to Button5 doesn't disable it's ability to navigate backwards.

In my case specifically, I set Button5 to Menu Tab Right. When I opened the Play menu and tried to go to the Servers tab, I was booted back to the main menu.

You bind a keybind toΒ Button5Β by pressing it on your mouse when changing controls. It works the same way as any other button on the mouse or keyboard. If you are confused at this, it is probably because all mice haveΒ Button5Β on them and you are unfamiliar with it. Computer mice with this feature are not uncommon, but for reference I have a Logitech G502 mouse.

This bug is likely an oversight related to the cross-platform nature of Bedrock Edition. Since this button is generally associated with navigating back (such as in web browsers and file explorers), the button has been hard coded to trigger the same behavior that would be called when tapping the back button on the Android navigation bar or similar actions. The behavior simply needs to be changed by checking ifΒ Button5 is unbound before calling code responsible for navigating backwards.

Does the issue still occur if you change the settings of the mouse itself?

I do have the privilage of rebinding my mouse buttons which is a valid workaround for my personal situation, but the vast majority of mice on the market do not offer a native rebinding option, which is why I'm bringing the issue up in the first place.

Confirmed
Steps to reproduce:

  • Get a mouse with additional buttons (mine has a forward and back arrow with back arrow being button #5)

  • Go to Settings >> Keyboard & Mouse > Keyboard Layout > Menu Tab Right and click on where RBRACKET currently is and then click button #5 on the mouse

  • Go back to the main menu and click the servers tab

Expected results:

  • Clicking button #5 would tab over to the Friends Tab as we bound button #5 to that purpose

Observed Results:

  • You are taken back to the main menu as is the normal function of button #5 ( Which is the back button on my mouse)
