New Update Won't Allow Cross Platform Play (PC)

Before update v1.16.100, I had no issues joining a friend's world. Now, after the update, I am not able to see that my friend is playing Minecraft and they're not able to send me requests to play in their world.

Is there a fix for this?

I'm experiencing this issue between the Nintendo Switch and Windows 10. This issues seems to come and go with no acknowledgement or explanation as to why it's happening. I can see the other players in the Xbox app but Minecraft can't see them.

This would be fine if the switch could connect to custom servers. The fact that this isn't allowed leaves the game broken for days on end. I don't understand why Mojang doesn't take a step back and fix these issues or open up custom servers on the Switch.
