In an End City in my realm, there was a bugged shulker that did not shoot. When I jumped on top of the shulker and tried to kill it with my sword, I suddenly died. I had full health and was not taking any damage, but died anyway.
It almost looks like I died instead of the shulker, since he was taking a lot of damage from my sword, but refused to die.
This happened in a world with seed -593287582, in an End City located at coordinates 1024,1024.

I beleve it said "you died by a Shulker". But I'm not 100% sure. I died in mid air, so I don't think it was of the fall damage.
What I forgot to mention the first time, the shulker looked a bit different. The spiral which is normaly on the inside of the shell was now on the outside.
I have just checked if I could find the same shulker in a creative world with the same seed, so I could show you a screen shot, but it wasn't there. I have not been able to find it again in the realm where I died. Since I lost my Elytra.
Hope you can do anythink with the info!

There is a bug where you can experience fall damage unexpectedly, even when you are only 1 block off the ground (MCPE-105490). It would be helpful if you could make the bug happen again.
If by spiral you mean the small white cube with eyes, I have not experienced this behaviour, so maybe a mod can take a look at this. I suspect this is due to MCPE-71243; in this case, the purple shulker shell being the "ghost" while the "spiral" is the actual location of the shulker. It is possible that both of these are "ghosts", and the shulker is invisible somewhere else, which is why it does not see you and shoot.
This may also explain why you died. The server knows that there is no shulker there, so the server thinks that you are floating in the air and tries to force you to land on the ground. The client tells the server your on-screen "floating" location, and this repeats, until the server lands you on the ground and causes you to die from falling for a long time.

If the message said you died by shulker then it is likely due to the invisible mob bug, which is MCPE-71243, so this will be resolved as a duplicate of that issue.
