Nether portal malfunctioning

The nether portal in my world is not letting me in despite me restarting my app. When I step into my portal, my screen doesn't start swirling and I can't go through at all even in creative mode. My portal seems to work at random and I can't seem to find a pattern. I am stuck in the nether and cannot leave the nether despite my portal still working, so I hope that this issue can be fixed asap.
