Game Crashes on "Checking for Updates screen" on Oculus VR version

I'm getting the same issue as described. When launching through the Oculus menus, The game will crash when attempting to look for an update, or, if the update is installed manually, will crash >1 second into the Mojang red loading screen. Alternate attempts like launching from the minecraft://mode/?OpenXR=true launch link will also contain the same error text "File system error (-2147219196)."

I've taken most every step available for this error (common for the photos app) with no fix. Minecraft is the only affected application.

Leaving a comment here - it's also completely broken with a native SteamVR headset (Valve Index) with the same error.
