VR broken after latest update

I was playing Minecraft in Oculus VR with no problems until the game updated with the 1.16.200 release.  I have updated my OS and graphics drivers, but when I try to open the game in VR, it gets to the "checking for updates" screen then immediately crashes back to Oculus home.  On my computer screen, it brings up the red Mojang screen then immediately crashes.  I also tried uninstalling and reinstalling both Oculus and Minecraft on my PC.

I CAN play the game without problems without VR, but I can't get the VR version not to crash.

I also have this issue.

I have tried:

Deleting and re-installing the Minecraft for Oculus VR runtime (6.0MB).

Increasing permissions for all Oculus Minecraft files and folders to full access.

Deleting and re-installing Minecraft 1.16.200.

Running the Minecraft Windows 10 version prior to running Oculus and then leaving it running while starting the Oculus Minecraft launcher... same crash after checking for updates.

Restarting the PC, leaving nothing running in the background, and then just starting Oculus. Then clicking on the Minecraft Oculus VR launcher... same crash after checking for updates.

Please advise.

Sincerely,

-RLJ

You're not missing out on much yet.  The ray tracing update broke half of the game even if you manage to get it going.

Half the settings don't work (snap view, etc.) and  menus and inventory are unreadable because chests and stuff cover them up.

I mean who was this update even for?  Someone's boss?

High-end graphics aren't a priority to people who play this game.  Especially at the expense of funtional VR.  FIX THIS!

Same issue here, When I connect to my Oculus Quest 2, with Oculus Link, I got in the screen:

 "checking for updates"

And then it closes immediately. I have tried to run Minecraft from the Oculus Store, and also run it first from the shortcut specify on the release notes: minecraft://mode/?OpenXR=true

Let me know if you need any more information,

Confirmed. 1.16.200 broke minecraft for Windows MR. I cannot get it to load either no mater what.  I've updated everything. All drivers.  This sucks Mojang.

Skaijie. No, that's not the problem. This is different and only broken in 1.16.200. Read. You'll see it is different.

This IS NOT RESOLVED!!

Agreed, THIS IS NOT RESOLVED! They deleted my own bug report on the issue. Are they removing VR support? Are they proving to us that Microsoft is going to ruin this beloved thing that has brought joy to so many? Are they trying to sweep this monumental screwup under the rug?

...they have decided to track the issue at MCPE-16946. Sometimes they "merge" two issues together if they are very similar as it is in this case.

It would be nice if they decided to FIX IT!  And no, it is VERY different.  Mojang needs to stop being lazy.  The bug reports are different in platform (Windows MR vs Oculus), timeline (1.16.200 ~DEC 2020 vs MUCH OLDER), VR interface (OpenXR vs whatever you used before), and in symptoms (immediate crash vs "searching for updates.").  You need to acknowledge that they are different and FIX IT!  How you ask?  It's called agile programming and hot fixes...it was invented, oh, a decade or so ago.
