This may not necessarily be "a bug", but it is an issue. I was playing a LAN multiplayer game with my brothers the other day. When we were done, the brother hosting the game (On Nintendo Switch) logged off first. I was in water at the time. When we logged back in, the game believed that I was "in" well before I could control my character. By the time I could make a difference, I had drowned. Is there a way to make it so that things like this don't happen? You shouldn't be able to die when you can't do anything. Maybe make it so that you have to press/tap a button for the game to impact your character?
