Was creating maps, and locking them at each step of the design. The map was of the same area, using the same original map, but copied. The original map shows the current map design, and this copies to another map identical. However locking this map produces a locked map version which is an earlier version of the map, rather than the current version.

I had the same issue, but from the XboxOne! I was trying to copy the original map to have extras because Iād just spent several hours exploring the 90% reachable part of a 3/4 pg. map and definitely wanted to have extra copies. But instead of copying it over, it produced an original unexplored map. Now I have no idea how to fix it.Ā
Is this still an issue in the latest version (1.17.2)? If so, can you please add it to the affected versions (or mention it if you are not the reporter).

I also am experiencing this issue, on Windows 10 Edition, version 1.17.41.Ā I first had this problem today (11/13/21).Ā I copied a map, held it to update it to the current version, and then locked it with a glass pane.Ā When I first held the locked map, it appeared correct.Ā However, when I attempted to right-click and place the map into an item frame, it reverted to the appearance of the map from a week prior.
As a workaround, producing a new map from scratch and locking that did lock the correct version. The bug here is somewhere in the copying of the single map.
