I also am experiencing this issue, on Windows 10 Edition, version 1.17.41. I first had this problem today (11/13/21). I copied a map, held it to update it to the current version, and then locked it with a glass pane. When I first held the locked map, it appeared correct. However, when I attempted to right-click and place the map into an item frame, it reverted to the appearance of the map from a week prior.
