I just spent $7 on minecraft pocket edition for my ipad and the only thing it will let me do is creative mode it shows no survivor mode at all
*What I expected to happen was...: to be able to play survivor mode
*What actually happened was...:*its not even on the screen period but shows no updates for the app

You're doing it wrong. If you see a button that says CREATIVE when you create your own world press it to change to survival.
