Dripstones don't merge when placing against adjacent block

How to reproduce

1. Build this:
   

   [media]

2. Place another dripstone against the emerald block

Expected Result:
They merge

Actual Result:
They don't

Note

You'll notice while testing this that dripstones are also affected by MCPE-50968. The placed dripstone should connect to the top one if you aim at the emerald block while looking up, but instead it always connects to the bottom one.
