We're unable to connect to the internet problem

When starting minecraft I get a notification of the new build with an unlock button but if I click on this the marketplace does not open and eventually a message appears which says, "We're unable to connect to the internet, maybe check your internet connection",  My internet connection is fine and restarting the computer does not bring about an improvement.  I have not had this problem with previous builds.
