Steps to reproduce
Set up an area with a grass block floor where some of the grass blocks have light level of 3 or lower in the space above them. This can be in an overworld structure with a solid roof, or a cave (since skylight at midnight is light level 4), or in the nether or end where there is no lighting nearby.
Place chests on top of the grass blocks.
Expected result
The grass does not change.
Actual result
Grass blocks change to dirt where the light level in the space above them is 3 or lower.
This only happens in the Nether and not the Overworld. Grass turns to dirt despite the presence of any light sources. This also happens with hoppers and works in both dimensions (this part of bug is a duplicate of MCPE-62132.

Actually there are two separate bugs.
Hopper bug is confirmed and it is duplicate of MCPE-62132.
Chest bug otherwise is not reproducable - so could you please add any details? How long have you waited for this turn? How comes only one block under the Chest has turned into dirt? Can you help us to reproduce this bug?
The version of the game I am playing in is 1.16.201 and reported it after seeing all of the grass under my chests in the Nether had turned to dirt. I would presume that one of the dirt blocks was turning into dirt when I originally placed that chest down. I do not know how to help you reproduce this other than giving you details about the bug like how its only in the Nether(Basalt Biome). I cant think of anything else that might be of use or helpful.
This occurs in both dimensions wherever the light level above the grass block is 3 or less. Chests then both cause grass blocks to change to dirt, and prevent grass from spreading to dirt blocks.
It seems that in the screenshot attached by the OP, the light from the respawn anchors had allowed grass to spread, and the picture was taken to show the last dirt block left that had not yet changed to grass.
