Tamed wolf collars are unable to exist/will not display in colours other than white. Any dogs with collars dyed or set by the game now appear white, and taming wolves will result in a white-collared dog.
When holding a dye, an action button appears and can be pressed normally, disappearing once fulfilled. However, it leaves no lasting/visible effect on the subject dog.
Dogs tested with were tamed by both players over LAN and myself, and had been spawned using spawn eggs over several versions, from 0.9.5 to 0.13.1.
