Pause menu GUI broken

Minecraft stopped updating for my Ipad around a year ago and it has been fine until a week ago. I paused to get a drink and noticed the words were gone. The ability to select anything was gone as well. I have to close and reopen minecraft every time I pause.
I also cannot save my worlds and re install, it logged me out of my microsoft account and I can't get back in, it gives me an error.
