I'm not sure if this is a feature or a bug, but when the new beta version was released, coal and coal blocks suddenly started depleting about 5 times faster. This also didn't happen just one time, it constant, even while I have my world open right now, though I've started using wood logs after checking if it still didn't work.

Cleaning up old tickets: This ticket had been set to 'Awaiting Response', but has not received a response from the reporter (~3 months+) so is being closed as Incomplete.
