I have had this exact issue.

I loaded up my hogwarts world today and in the stairway area I have which has paintings lining all the walls from the bottom to the top, they were gone, or so i thought, I walked to an exact position where i knew a painting should have been attempted to smash the wall and the animation for a painting being smashed happened and a painting appeared in my hotbar, i then placed it back but it was invisible, so all the paintings are in fact there but just invisible

Playing on XboxOneS, worked fine on 1.16.210 but after the update on 1.16.220 all the painting have turned invisible.

Adding on to this, I have done a little further digging to confirm for me at least that 1.16.220 has broken paintings.

At first I thought it was the texture pack I was using "ChromaHills" they have not always been the quickest at updating the textures, so i took that off and just tried the world with the normal texture pack, paintings still invisible.

Soooo, I made an entirely new world on this 1.16.220 update, made a wooden wall, tried to put some paintings on it and tada.......still invisible.

The paintings wont work for me either 😞 I can place them and break them but I can't see them. I use bedrock Edition for Windows 10
