Snow is not melting at all

I placed a torch near some snow layers and it never melts, tried a campfire and that failed too. I like being able to light up my snowy builds with it and it seems to keep snow from appearing when it's snowing, so it's kind of cool. 

It would be really nice if we could keep some version of this

Steps to Reproduce:

1. Place a torch

2. Place snow layers around the torch

3. Wait

Observed Results:
The snow layers do not melt.

Expected Results:
The snow layers should melt.
