Torches, lamps not causing snow to melt

I love building in snowy places. I commonly use torches, lamps, etc... to keep my grounds clear of snow for various reasons. I just bought the bedrock version of the game so I can play with a friend who uses the Nintendo Switch. We are building on top of a mountain but no matter how many torches or heat sources I place down, the snow will not melt no matter how long I wait. I've tried with multiple light/heat sources with no luck.
