Pets no longer responding to or following owner

There are two of us playing local co-op. I know the first part of this has been reported as a bug already; lightning. After two lighting strikes through walls (the only two lightning strikes we even saw, I'd like to note) specifically targeted and murdered the pets inside the walls, the surviving two pets no longer respond to the owner. He is player two, on my account, and a dog and a cat of his can no longer be taken out of or put into "sit", and they don't follow him anymore despite the one with a name tag retaining the name and both still having their collars. 
I have absolutely no idea how to get or attach any files from the Xbox to here, but will attempt to work out how I can do so and will attach if I can.
