Cannot connect to Realm on Switch after candle update

My son and I can't get into our Realm on Switch on either of our Switch devices after the update. I can log in on PC but the Switch says the server is out of date and contact the realm owner.

First, figure out which Switch is the owner of the realm. Then log on to the realm or look for a way to update it from the "owner" Switch. If there is no way to do so, then it is a bug or connection issue with the realm. This happened to me too after the 1.17 update, but it only lasted about a week. Hope this helps! (I also have a Switch).
