Must press sign-in button when resuming device from sleep

After the fix to MCPE-110396, Minecraft now refreshes the Friends list and Servers list after visiting the Switch home screen, without requiring a full restart of the app. This also works when you resume the device from sleep mode with Minecraft loaded, but in that case it requires you to press the sign-in button.

Steps to reproduce

  1. Load Minecraft and be signed in with a Microsoft account

  2. Have a friend load Minecraft and be signed in with a Microsoft account on another device.

  3. View the Friends list and Servers list to verify that they have loaded.

  4. Put the Switch to sleep.

  5. Wake the Switch and resume Minecraft, and wait a few seconds for things to load.

  6. View the Friends list and Servers list.

  7. On the main menu, press the sign-in button and follow the prompts.

  8. View the Friends list and Servers list.

Expected result

In step 6, the Friends list and Servers list load.

Actual result

The Friends list and Servers list do not load until step 8.

Note

Fortunately, pressing the sign-in button in step 7 does not require a new login through aka.ms/remoteconnect. It seems that the app just needs a trigger to get it to try to sign in again. I think the problem is that Minecraft initially tries to sign as soon as it resumes, and that does not allow time for the Switch to resume its internet connection. When you first resume into Minecraft from sleep mode, the Switch shows a connection error. After a few seconds, however, the menu gets back to normal, except that you have to manually press the sign-in button to tell Minecraft to try to sign in again.

Is this still an issue in the latest version?

GoldenHelmet

No. It takes some time to fully refresh but pressing the sign-in button is not necessary.
