iOS unable to reconnect

I use an iPad Pro 11 2nd Gen normally, but the same thing happens with my iPhone 12 mini. I am only connecting to a Bedrock server I host myself, running on Ubuntu, 6 core i7 with 16G of ram allocated, running on an sad.

iOS is unable to reconnect if it is disconnected during game play, so if I get a text message or email and tap the notification, lock my screen, or close the ipad down to the keyboard, when I go back to Minecraft it does the reloading like usual, only when I go to log into the server it will be stuck trying to connect. I have to go into the list of apps, kill it by swiping off, then relaunching it manually. After which I am able to join the server again. This process feels like it takes an extra 30 seconds just to get back into the game.

This does not happen with my kids kindle fire HD 8 or a Samsung Galaxy Note 10+. Those devices connect right back in.
