Minecraft Store not working

Minecraft store not allowing us to access purchased mods or store content.  Has been an issue for a while, from reading a variety of blogs I can see it is an issue for a lot of other users too!  Error message says to check the internet connection but there is no issue with the internet connection. Occasionally some thumbnail images of store items load however, when trying to open them, we get the same message about internet issues.
